Introducing five key artists central to Peter’s work.

Simple Minds

”Peter was the producer of what many believe to be our finest album – New Gold Dream. That is saying something considering the list of album producers we have worked with, including Jimmy Iovine, John Leckie, Keith Forsey, Steve Lillywhite, Trevor Horn. I still find it hard to believe that Pete was only 21 years old when he produced that record. The guy youngest in the room, the rest of us were 22! The Simple Minds story owes so much to Peter Walsh in particular.”

Jim Kerr (Simple Minds)

Peter first worked with Simple Minds in 1981 at London’s Utopia Studios, remixing the song “Sweat in Bullet” with guitarist and founding member Charlie Burchill.

The collaboration marked the start of a lasting creative relationship with the band, leading to his production of Simple Minds first Top 20 UK single, ‘Promised You a Miracle’ and the landmark album ‘New Gold Dream’

He was reunited with Charlie and Jim in 1998 for the band’s eleventh album, “Neapolis” as co producer and mixer, and again in 2023 for the album New Gold Dream ‘Live from Paisley Abbey’ as co producer, consultant recording engineer and mixer.

Peter Gabriel

“Pete is a very gifted producer and mix engineer. I have worked with him both in the studio and in live mode. He is wonderful at conjuring and defining mood – which is very clear in the landmark work he has done with Scott Walker, Simple Minds, and myself amongst others. He is able to see the big picture and at the same time, focus in on the smallest detail. I have always found him to be a positive influence and a pleasure to work with.”

Peter Gabriel

Starting with their collaboration on the 1983 remix of “I Have the Touch” at Ridge Farm Studios, Peter has gone on to play a defining role in several of Gabriel’s live and studio projects.

He co produced and mixed the live albums, “Plays Live” and “Secret World Live”, was Front of House engineer for the 1986 Amnesty International “Conspiracy of Hope” tour, and the “Secret World Live” tour in 1993/4, as well as contributing extensively to releases on the Real World Records label.

From the studio to the stage, their collaboration continues to evolve and unfold to this day.

Scott Walker

“Pete’s a very stabilising presence in the studio and that’s essential, as we’ve faced many challenging problems together over the years. We still make each other laugh, though and, of course, he’s a fantastic engineer.”

Scott Walker

Peter’s partnership with Scott Walker began with Climate of Hunter in 1984 and continued through every studio album Walker released thereafter - a body of work that includes six solo albums, two film soundtracks, and the commissions for seven modern dance theatre productions. Over the years, they created some of the most inventive and emotionally powerful music of their time.
